On Thursday, November 19, I had the opportunity to attend Maxiom Group’s Supply Chain Working Group session at the Westin in Waltham. The speaker was Dan Wood, Vice President of Integration and Supply Chain at Gyrus AMCI (now part of Olympus). The topics discussed centered on the actions of the organization through a merger (Gyrus and AMCI) and some of the operational activities that the Supply Chain group undertook. The portion that I found most compelling was how they implemented a Pull based manufacturing system through their global network of facilities.

In the last few days, alone, I have been in discussions about ERP, QMS, Performance Management, Project Management, Document Management, Safety and CRM.

Tuesday, November 10th, 2009On Friday, October 23, 2009, I had the opportunity to present at one of Maxiom Group’s breakfast workshops that was held at the Westin Waltham Hotel. The topic was how to apply the appropriate level of project management tools and rigor to business initiatives which reach across functional and organizational lines in life sciences. My role was to present a case example from a client engagement that illustrated how we were able to “dial-up”, or “dial-down” the level of structure and control by varying the PM tools to fit the specifics of the project and the client’s culture.
